Welcome to The Crib

"D"
Feb. 1994 - Jan. 2001

She meant a lot to many
of the friends of The Crib.

Like Tarzan, she was raised by
wild animals. In her case, it
was ferrets, because none of
the adult cats around her
wanted to play with the
new kitten. For the first half
year I had her, she still
jumped sideways and
stole my things,
just like a ferret.

Her name came from the
anime movie Vampire Hunter D.
Little did we know how good of a
hunter she would become when she
grew up as an outdoor-cat.

D and I had one thing in common.
She couldn't stand cats and I can't
stand people, but finally in her last
two years, she became a wonderful
mother figure to two kittens. I'll
try to live up to her standards.

Lastly, when things started going
smoother, I moved into a new house
with my roommate and his two
kittens. On the very first day,
she was lounging and rolling
around on the living room floor.
I realized that she appreciated my
relative success more than I did.

On January 5th, 2001, D was
struck by a car and killed,
instantly and pain less. She was
outside in her cat world where
sometimes there's dangers and
sometimes you're the danger.

We miss you D!

This last picture is, of course, how most will remember her.
